Congratulations to AFFIRM Leadership Award Winner Sam Shellenberger of DOL VETS

Among the recipients of the prestigious Association for Federal Information Resources Management (AFFIRM) Leadership Awards was a client who Management Concepts has worked with extensively, the U.S. Department of Labor, Veterans Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS). Management Concepts manages and operates the National Veterans’ Training Institute (NVTI) on behalf of DOL VETS to further develop and enhance the professional skills of veterans’ employment and training service providers throughout the United States.

Deputy Assistant Secretary J.S. ‘Sam’ Shellenberger was presented the Leadership Award for Service to the Citizen and the Country recognizing “leadership excellence in management information technology for improved services to the citizen or on a national level for their country.”

This year’s celebration coincided with AFFIRM’s 40th year, focused on improving technology’s impact on citizen’s lives. Since 1979, individuals and teams have been awarded annually for outstanding leadership over the preceding year.

In this video, you can see Mr. Shellenberger accepting the award and acknowledging that their accomplishment was made possible through the assistance of Management Concepts.

Mr. Shellenberger said: “A lot of things the government wants to do have already been done in private industry. All the government needs to do is say, ‘Hey I want to do that, that way,’ and find somebody who can do it for you.’ Management Concepts has done that for us — being able to provide classroom and digital, remote training and management of the whole process in ways that we had only hoped for.”

Management Concepts thanks Mr. Shellenberger, Program Manager Brad Sickles, and his team for the pleasure of supporting your efforts, and we are grateful for this generous expression of appreciation for our contribution. Congratulations! Our work with the U.S. Department of Labor, Veterans Employment and Training Service covered many aspects, including:
