From Rock to Royalty: Revisiting AGA PDT 2022

Management Concepts visited Anaheim, California to exhibit in this year’s AGA Professional Development Training (PDT) from Sunday, July 17 to Tuesday, July 19. We were especially excited for this year as this year’s conference was the first in-person event in two years. Our representatives for this conference met, networked, and attended sessions in person this time around. AGA provided wonderful speakers and breakout sessions relating to ongoing topics and issues about financial management, analytics, and auditing.

Conference Breakout Sessions and Keynote Speakers

Between lunches, coffee breaks, and dinners our Management Concepts representatives attended breakout sessions with various speakers in the field.

On Sunday, speakers kicked off the conference with the session Emotional Intelligence in a Remote World, discussing how to enhance communication skills and help determine social cues online. They posited that remote work demands better communication and more effective interpretation of others and that changing your methods and patterns can help prevent volatile remote work scenarios.

Monday started with the first keynote speaker, Mark Schulman, who is a world-famous drummer, author, and speaker. His keynote was inspirational, and he talked about how to apply concepts from rock and roll to individual and team performance, how to break through barriers, and use the lessons from performances to work. The most important piece of advice was to shift your mindset and thinking from “having to” to “getting to,” changing the language from obligation to opportunity.

The sessions continued Tuesday with sessions on an array of topics. The breakout sessions varied from identifying best practices to use for hybrid work to how the Navy improved its decision-making through data analytics.

AGA finished out the conference on Wednesday with yet another riveting keynote speaker, Princess Sarah Culbertson. Sarah ended the conference by sharing her journey of discovering how she was a descendant of African royalty, highlighting the importance of building diverse communities, empowering yourself and others, and most importantly, earning your titles.

California Dreamin’

AGA did a fantastic job ensuring the exhibitors, attendees, and speakers enjoyed their time at the conference. In the beautiful setting amongst the palm trees, they provided a variety of activities outside of the main conference including a greenscreen photobooth and massages. The greenscreen booth had a variety of movie backgrounds, props, and truly gave every participant the “Hollywood” experience.

Exhibiting

We were ecstatic to welcome and greet so many to the Management Concepts booth! We shared our new and trending financial management and analytics courses and connected with so many great people. Attendees entered our survey raffle for an Amazon gift card and took home Management Concepts apparel.

To Wrap it Up…

We are so grateful for the opportunity to exhibit this year at AGA PDT! View photos from the event on our Facebook page and stay up to date with all of our activities with AGA on our AGA event page. We can’t wait for next year and will see everyone at AGA Internal Control & Fraud Prevention Training in Washington, DC in September.
