Are you a #ChangeAgent: Be the Change You Want to See
It has been a year in the making but we have finally garnered the interest of key federal government officials to ask Management Concepts to help them tell their story about culture and change management at their agency. On September 29, 2016 we sponsored an event with the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) on the topic of “Positive #ChangeAgents Transforming Work Cultures By Delivering Results Differently and Better”.
This opportunity came about when Dr. David Bray, CIO of the Federal Communication Commission approached us to have a conversation about the Importance of change agents in Public Service. The discussion covered topics such as:
- Diversity
- Empowering the edge, and
- Embracing ecosystem approaches.
We mobilized our contacts and created a great program where we were able to position ourselves in the marketplace as experts on these topics.
In addition we developed a “fresh thinking” panel and they discussed how they are #changeagents in their respective agencies and what needs to be done to continue working with all generations in the workplace. The various panelists were from the Federal Communications Commission, U.S. Department of Labor, General Services Administration, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Carl T. Rowan Chapter of Blacks in Government, Senior Executives Association and US Department of Agriculture.
One of the main take-a-ways from the event is that cultures are transformed by delivering results differently better. If you tackle changing cultures directly you’ll not succeed, however if you focus on changing how you deliver results differently and better — then you’ll also change work cultures as a consequence.
Be the change you want to see!
