Prior to joining Management Concepts, Lenz worked as a middle school and high school teacher, providing differentiated instruction in a wide variety of subject matter. He also holds experience working with adults learning English as a second or other language. In addition, he retains experience in human resources. Lenz holds a BA in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Technology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. In his free time, Lenz enjoys playing piano, playing basketball and soccer, cooking, and reading.
Robert Black serves as a Senior Subject Matter Expert and Instructor for Financial Management at Management Concepts. In this role, he has worked developing and delivering training to Federal employees in the areas of auditing, internal control, and appropriations law. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Robert spend more than 21 years as a Federal government auditor, including positions at GAO and the NASA Office of the Inspector General. In his free time, Robert enjoys traveling abroad and driving his ’79 Fiat Spider.
Tim Bowden serves as the Executive Director for Consulting Delivery for the People and Performance Consulting division at Management Concepts. In this role, he specializes in creating assessment-based, data-driven solutions to create sustainable organizational performance improvement. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Tim spent 14 years at Alion Science and Technology where he managed the Research Division to translate findings from basic research in human performance into simulation-based analysis tools to improve system design. Tim holds a BA from Rollins College and an MS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Central Florida. In his free time, Tim enjoys coaching baseball, mountain biking, and spending quality time with his wife, 15 year old son, and 14 year old daughter.
Kriste Buchanan serves as a Senior Assessment Consultant for the People and Performance Consulting division at Management Concepts. In this role, she supports competency model development and customized competency assessments. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Kriste served as a consultant with The Pittman McLenagan Group. Jessica Burke serves as the Product Manager for Leadership & Management at Management Concepts. In this role, she assists in the management of the leadership and management product portfolio, including guiding content creation and providing consultative support to shape new learning solutions. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Jessica worked in the hospitality industry as a Training Development Specialist creating training videos and other interactive content. In this role, she oversees the onsite and professional services marketing strategy for the company. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Michelle worked in the transportation, adult learning, financial, and energy verticals as well as numerous non-profit organizations. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Phil served a long and distinguished career in service to his country, including four years as the Director of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service regional office in Dayton, OH. He has trained thousands of Federal employees in 40 countries across 5 continents in financial management. Phil holds master’s degrees in manpower management and national security strategy and is a Certified Defense Financial Manager. Tom Dungan III serves as CEO at Management Concepts. During Tom’s 22 year tenure, the company has successfully grown ten-fold. In addition to Management Concepts, Tom is also President of Andover Investments, LLC, a holding company for investment activity in banking and real estate activities, and sits on the board of directors for Virginia Heritage Bank and the Professional Services Council. Tom is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and served in various roles including Chapter Chairman. He is a Certified Public Accountant and worked previously with Arthur Andersen. Tom holds the a BBA in Accounting from the College of William and Mary.
Lowell Dye serves as a Senior Consultant for Project & Program Management at Management Concepts. In this role, he serves as a content expert and instructor. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Lowell has spent more than 30 years in project, program, and portfolio management including training, consulting, and implementation in a variety of commercial and government organizations. He is the co-editor of Project Portfolio Management: Selecting and Prioritizing Projects for Competitive Advantage and Managing Multiple Projects: Scheduling and Resource Allocation for Competitive Advantage, as well as author of several articles and a frequent speaker on project and portfolio management. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Debbie was a Principal Consultant in KornFerry’s Leadership and Talent Consulting government practice. In this role she led numerous consulting projects focused in the areas of leadership and human capital management. Debbie also previously served as a director at PricewaterhouseCoopers where she led top strategic accounts for the firm. Ruth Famojuro serves as a Content Development Expert at Management Concepts. In her 18 years with the company, she has contributed to many of the courses in the Grants curriculum including most recently, Developing and Monitoring Indirect Cost Rates Under 2 CFR 200. Rick Hurley serves as an Instructor for Financial Management at Management Concepts. In this role, he develops and delivers different types of training for Federal employees in the areas of appropriations law, budgeting, financial management, program analysis, and cost estimating. Prior to joining Management Concepts in 1995, Rick served as a Navy pilot and Financial Manager for more than 21 years. His assignments included several Financial Management tours in the Washington, DC area including jobs in the Navy CFO office and instructing at the Defense Systems Management College at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. An expert in operations management, process engineering, and performance improvement, she has previously served as Chief Operating Officer and PMO Director at a small IT services company, and was Program Manager of the Product Lifecycle Management Center of Excellence at one of the world’s largest wineries.
Paul Lohnes serves as a Senior Consultant for Project & Program Management at Management Concepts. In this role, he serves as a subject matter expert for the creation and delivery of IT project and program management content. In addition to working with Management Concepts, Paul has been active in project management for more than 34 years, beginning soon after he left the Navy in 1981. He has developed more than 60 technical, business, and management courses and seminars and has delivered those to 10,000+ attendees in more than 100 events. He is an internationally renowned project and risk manager speaker drawing on his 30+ years of public speaking and educational experiences and skills, including holding teaching positions at both UC Berkeley in California, and the State University of New York’s Institute of Technology in Utica, Rome. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Joy was a Managing Research Psychologist at CSRA, and a Research Scientist at HumRRO. Cleve Pillifant serves a Senior Consultant for Project & Program Management at Management Concepts. Now retired, he was a senior executive at Management Concepts for 12 years and worked with Federal clients to establish customized workforce development programs and provided related professional services. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Cleve was a Senior Director at PwC for 7 years and served 22 years in the Marine Corps, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Cleve holds a BBA from The University of New Mexico’s Robert O. Anderson School of Management and a MS Management, Logistics Management from the Naval Postgraduate School. In his role, Steven is responsible for providing the highest quality and most relevant legal advice to ensure the company can achieve its business goals. His advice covers the range of the company’s internal and external activities, including employment matters, government and commercial contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property protection, licensing, and regulatory compliance. Steven also chairs the company’s Risk Committee. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Steven spent time at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, United States Department of State, and International Labor Organization. Jim has more than 30 years of experience including a mix of consulting practice leadership, project management, client service, organization effectiveness, compensation, change management, and academic activities. Teidi holds a BA from San Diego Mesa College and studied at the Art Institute of Atlanta and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. In her free time, Teidi spends time with her husband and menagerie of animals in San Diego.
Chuck Williams serves as the Practice Director for Acquisition & Contracting at Management Concepts. In this role, he plans and manages the acquisition and contracting products and services, which includes analysis of relevant markets and their competitive landscapes. In addition, he develops new products and services, and supports the business development team. Prior to joining Management Concepts, Chuck spent a 30-year career in Air Force acquisition positions. Chuck holds a BS in Mathematics from the United States Air Force Academy and an MS in Engineering Management from Northeastern University.
Vi Zenone serves as the Product Management Director for Acquisition & Contracting at Management Concepts. In this role, she leverages market research to create and enhance products and services for the acquisition workforce. Formerly, Vi was the company’s Senior Contracts Administrator. Prior to joining Management Concepts, she worked for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) as the Outreach & Marketing lead for OPM’s training centers. Vi holds a BA in Biology from the University of Virginia and is a Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM). In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, with an emphasis on molecular gastronomy. When not in her kitchen/lab, Vi is seeking new culinary adventures, catching up on her reading list, and unwinding with her family.
